Maddur Vada.

Here is my first one, what i would be writing is about the famous MADDUR VADA.

This snack derives its name from the town of Maddur which is in the Mandya District of Karnataka. Maddur lies between the cities of Bangalore (the capital of karanataka) and Mysore and Maddur Vada is frequently sold on trains that traverse these two cities.

Though i'm a born brought up in Bangalore, mysore was is were my mother is from so whenever i had off from school as a kid or during the summer vacations i would travel to Mysore. Most of the times i would travel by trian and as a kid it was the best experience. I still remember how musch i used to enjoy travelling by train. It was a 3 hour journey by a express train and as soon as i got into the train and it started to move i would look around for people who sell maddur vada.

My parents had a tuff time managing a naughty kid like me. Whenever i saw a guy shouting Maddur Vada i would ask them to get me one. My dad was very strict person and he used to not like me eating food on the train. He was very particular of the type of food as in he would never entertain me to eat street food o train food. So i had to do some drama before my mom got me one. The joy i had eating them was just amazing. Maddur vada used to by the most favorite snack on train not only me but everyone on the train. People just loved them.If you were lucky enough you would get a hot and crispy maddur vada.

Even now everytime i travel to mysore i make sure i eat maddur vada. Its just one snack that you would never get bored off ,perhaps i would never get bored off. These maddur vada sold on trains are made by a restaurant  MADDUR TIFFANY'S. It is believed that this maddur vada was made by them About a 100 years ago. They have maintained the taste from about 20 years as long as i'v seen them.

Recently, i was coming back from mysore by road and i decided to visit this restaurant. It was early morning and i could smell the vada as i entered. The first thing i ordered was Maddur vada i ate 6 of them. It was hot crispy and served with chutney. It was the best feeling i had and a lot of memories revived. I took a parcel of 6 more and got back it to bangalore. My parents loved them too though it was not hot anymore. Then i tried other dishes they have idli was good so was uddina vada was also very good.

Usually they are open from morning 7 to night 11 if i'm not wrong. You just see the restaurant when you are passing on the bangalore mysore highway SH17 opposite to indian oil petrol bunk in maddur or you could just ask anyone in maddur and they would leave you with the correct address. It's about 80kms from bangalore.

Drop in to this place when you have some time or your travelling by this road. I bet you will have a wonderful experience. Many of us have had wonderful memories of this maddur vada and it's time you revive them. Apart from this you could try other dishes as well the only thing is the service takes a little time.

You have any queries regarding this you could as me and i would respond as soon as possible. Until my next post KEEP HOGGING.
